On April 22, DIICSU held a meeting for all class tutors in Seminar Room 622 of the SFL Building at Xiaoxiang Campus. Gao Dongbo, Party Secretary of DIICSU, and Gao Guangjun, Dean of DIICSU, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Fan Fan. The meeting aimed to deepen class tutors’ understanding of the China-UK joint-running education, clarify their scope of responsibilities, and build an all-staff, whole-process and all-round education system.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Gao Guangjun delivered a speech and expressed high expectations for all class tutors. He stressed that class tutors are not only academic guides but also mental guardians for students. Dean Gao put forward three earnest requirements: first,be closely connected with students and keep track of students’ academic performance and psychological status, so as to know quite well of each student; second, act as students’ mentors and friends, and provide effective guidance at their critical growth stages; third, to strengthen coordination and maintain close communication with student advisors to ensure impeccable work outcomes.

Given the uniqueness of Sino-British cooperative education, Zhang Shanshan, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office of DIICSU, delivered a thoruogh professional training. Focusing on issues including student registrary, progression rules, degree classifications and teaching regulations, she elaborated on differentiated standards between Chinese and British sides in course assessment, prerequisite course progression and Honours projects, helping class tutors understand teaching management precisely.

Wang Xiaozong, Director of the Student Affairs Office of DIICSU, interpreted key university documents. He mainly clarified class tutors’ responsibilities in academic management, reporting procedures and work requirements, and urged all class tutors to fulfill their duties and safeguard students’ safety and stability.

Subsequently, DIICSU student advisors reported student learning outcomes in each cohort. In the Q&A session, class tutors discussed about difficulties in daily management based on their practices.

At the end of the meeting, Party Secretary of DIICSU Gao Dongbo delivered a concluding speech. He first extended sincere gratitude to all hard-working class tutors. Gao Dongbo emphasized that class tutors are crucial guardians for students’ growth, and hoped that all tutors would align and cooperate closely with DIICSU to support each student’s development and success.
