From April 7 to April 16, DIICSU successfully finished the defense of the honours projects (theses) of the first-cohort students. The defense was divided into 36 panels, adopting a model of CSU-UoD joint evaluation and online-offline integrated proceedings. The arrangement highlighted the institute’s international features, ensuring the whole defense proceeded in a fair, impartial and efficient manner.

Honours project (thesis) defense serves as a crucial assessment of students’ practical abilities, innovations and critical thinking. During the defense sessions, students conducted their defenses via slides and  demonstrations, elaborated on research background, research procedures and core outcomes in detail, and responded thoughtfully to questions from examiners. CSU and UoD examiners collaborated closely and communicated thoroughly, raising suggestions to help students polish their paper and improve their capabilities.

This defense not only verified the quality of DIICSU’s inaugural student education, but also accumulated valuable experiences for work improvements. In future, DIICSU will continue to carry out teaching reforms, make good use of the advantages of Sino-British joint education, enhance students’ academic literacy and innovative competence, and lay a solid foundation for cultivating outstanding talents with global vision and professional expertise. Meanwhile, we wish all graduates of the first cohort a brilliant future as they embark on their new life journey.
