DIICSU’s 2026 Annual Teaching Conference took place on 21 March, incorporating an official launch ceremony for DIICSU’s Virtual Teaching Section. Prof. Li Zhihong, Vice President of CSU, attended and delivered an address. Also present were DIICSU’s Party Secretary, Dean and five part-time Vice Deans, plus over 60 CSU academic staff from six schools who deliver teaching and supervise Honours projects. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Gao Dongbo, Party Secretary of DIICSU.

During the ceremony, DIICSU Virtual Teaching Section was formally inaugurated. VP Li presented official appointment letters to the six sections’ newly appointed Leads and Deputy Leads. Wang Jiabin spoke as a representative, committing to build a collaborative pedagogical platform tailored to the institute’s transnational education identity, deliver robust teaching activities, and drive continuous improvements to international teaching standards.

In his address, VP Li Zhihong stressed that the Virtual Teaching Section acts as a testbed for the university’s international provision, accelerating the university’s wider shift towards globalised delivery. He urged DIICSU to uphold quality as its core priority, summarize its distinctive operational experience, strive to become a benchmark for China–UK joint-running delivery, and propel CSU’s international development to new heights.

Gao Guangjun, Dean of DIICSU, delivered a review of the year’s teaching operations, summarising key achievements and outlining areas for enhancement. He instructed all staff to adhere rigorously to our teaching regulations to consolidate the foundations of academic quality. He also laid out the core remit of the Virtual Teaching Section, covering the review of English-language teaching materials, curriculum ethical development, pedagogical workshops, quality assurance oversight, coordination of Honours project supervision, refinement of programme curriculum, and collaborative international research initiatives.

The conference featured dedicated slots for peer practice sharing and specialist training. Miao Cunqiang from the Mathematics programme shared insights on teaching in English and Honours project supervision, while Deng Jun of English tutoring discussed best practice for joint China–UK modules and innovation competition participation. The event also welcomed Professor Christopher Jefferson from the University of Dundee, who delivered a specialist training session on standardised marking criteria for Honours projects.

This comprehensive conference reviewed DIICSU’s full annual teaching portfolio and clarified the roadmap for future reform and development. Building on this momentum, DIICSU will deepen pedagogical reform, strengthen academic workforce development, refine its talent cultivation framework, and forge ahead to deliver sustained high-quality international education provision.
