Highly qualified teaching staff:
There are 106 full-time teachers, including 37 professors, 48 associate professors and teachers with corresponding titles. The famous mathematician, Professor Hou Zhenting, and a young scholar, Liu Lu, who solved the "Seetapun Enigma", are part of the teaching staff. Eleven of the teachers have been selected for National and Hunan Provincial Talent Programmes, including the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 16 are on the editorial board of key journals and are heads of academic organisations at home and abroad.
Doctoral Degree Programme and Postdoctoral Research Stations:
CSU's Civil Engineering programme began to recruit and train postgraduates in 1978. In 1981, the secondary discipline "Probability and Mathematical Statistics" was approved as one of the first batch of doctoral programmes in China and started to recruit and train doctoral students. There are now two first-tier doctoral degree programmes (Mathematics and Statistics), and two postdoctoral research stations (Mathematics and Statistics).
