The 5th meeting of the Joint Management Committee (JMC) of Dundee International Institute of Central South University (DIICSU) took place on 20 September, 2024, Beijing Time. The session was co-chaired by Prof. Li Zhihong, Chair of JMC and Vice President of Central South University (CSU), and Prof. Iain Gillespie, Vice Chair of JMC, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Dundee (UoD).
Present at the meeting were JMC members Wendy Alexander, Fordyce Davidson, Jason Norris, Karen Petrie, Rebecca Leiper, Li Jiacai, Yin Gang, Gao Dongbo, Gao Guangjun and Yi Liang. Zhao Jun attended on behalf of JMC member He Xuhui. Judy Finlay, Christine Sinclair, Fay Sandford, Julie Lynch and other staff from DIICSU also sat in on the proceedings.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed the minutes of the 4th JMC meeting. All attendees voted to adopt a series of proposals, including appointing Wendy Alexander as a new JMC member to replace Peter Fotheringham, adding Iain Gillespie to the Committee as Vice Chair, settling agreed Agreement fees, and launching an exploration into adjusting the student intake number of the degree programmes of DIICSU. Afterwards, Dean Gao Guangjun and Executive Vice Dean Karen Petrie jointly delivered a report on DIICSU’s latest operational progress, covering student affairs, teaching delivery, campus facility development and further collaboration initiatives.

Principal Iain Gillespie expressed his honour at being appointed JMC Vice Chair. He spoke positively about DIICSU’s progress since the last meeting and extended sincere gratitude to all staff from both universities for their outstanding work. Vice President Li Zhihong noted that DIICSU had entered its third academic year with steady operations. He thanked all committee members for their support and every member of staff for their hard work, adding that the two universities would continue to work hand in hand to build DIICSU into a high-quality collaborative institute.
