The grand final of the 2nd National University Digital & Intelligent Education Innovation Competition has recently concluded. A team of five English-teaching staff from DIICSU – Charlotte Mahoney, DENG Jun, Napoleon Mannering, ZHANG Leyi and LUO Lianlian – entered the contest as a joint group. Drawing on solid pedagogical expertise, cutting-edge digital intelligence teaching philosophies, inventive lesson design and well-honed in-class delivery, the team stood out from a large field of entrants nationwide and were awarded the national second prize.


In recent years, DIICSU’s English teaching team has built upon the educational strengths of the English discipline, actively exploring deep integration between artificial intelligence, digital technologies and classroom instruction. Digital intelligent teaching tools have been embedded across curriculum design, in-class engagement and assessment procedures, greatly boosting the interactivity, engagement and targeted precision of English sessions. This approach has tangibly improved teaching standards and student development outcomes, offering an exemplary practical model for innovative foreign language tuition within higher education in the digital age.
This national award marks a key milestone in DIICSU’s drive to advance digital intelligent teaching reform and foster innovative growth across its academic workforce. Moving forward, DIICSU will fully leverage the benchmarking impact of disciplinary competitions, keep developing diverse professional development platforms for teaching staff, and push forward high-quality, substantive and innovative progress in all aspects of DIICSU’s teaching provision.
