        Steve Reynolds has been active in thin-film semiconductors research for over 20 years, and his current area of interest is in improving the efficiency and stability of thin-film silicon based solar cells.

        Steve spent 2005 as a Visiting Scientist in the Institute for Energy Research (IEF-5),Forschungszentrum Jülich(Germany) where he studied the influence of nanostructure on electron and hole mobilities in microcrystalline silicon, giving invited talks and seminars on his work in Bulgaria, Belgium, the Netherlands and the USA. Earlier in his career he was a BP Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Edinburgh, developing test strategies for nonvolatile memory switches.

        On moving to Dundee, he continued to work in the field of electronic materials and devices, instigating research programmes on high-mobility oligomeric semiconductors and thin-film gas sensors. As an engineering practitioner he has carried out a diverse range of industrial consultancies in electronic systems design, and during 2006 he worked with a spin-out company of the University of Dundee on the commercialisation of a novel biomedical implant.

        Steve's main teaching interests are in electronic circuit design, renewable energy, microelectronics and solid-state physics, though during his career he has lectured on a wide range of physics and electronic engineering topics.
